Stone Mountain Rotary each year has used the District Grant to supply children in the 11 schools in the DeKalb County School system to receive dictionaries. This has been a well received and much appreciated donation. This provides an educational tool to the students that can help support their education now and in the future. Students who can read and understand the written word make a large impact to our communities.
The club purchased 1440 dictionaries for the students. Eleven schools where chosen.. In total we had 16 Rotarians involved, 14 delivering the dictionaries and 2 sorting and planning.
Schools included: Avondale, Dresden, Dunaire, Hambrick, Idlewood, Indian Creek, Jolly, Livsey, McLendon, Smoke Rise and Stone Mountain elementary schools.
Rotarians involved: Gene Fleeman, Pat Sabatelli, Cynthia Edwards, Alecea Quintyne, Chris Brand, Harry Strack, Jenny Hall, Gillian Leggett, Donna Jensen, Durl Jensen, Suzan Sykes, Jerry Crane, DeNorris Heard, Irvine Weeks, Bill Rosenfeld, Scott McElvoy.
